8 Weeks More

8 Weeks Old  - Arrival Day

Eight weeks from today we'll be using Kleenex and saying good-bye to our sweet Michele on her "turn-in" day in Oceanside. We are trying not to think about it but every Friday it gets closer and closer. This one is going to be even harder than it was with Riley. Right now she's sitting by the window in my sewing room looking out at her world and waiting for her dad to come home from Albuquerque. She likes me but she LOVES Gene - hard to tell which one of us will shed more tears when she marches off to the kennel without a backward glance at us. So many people keep saying "oh, she'll be a great assistance dog" but they are also the ones that only see her in "basic training" and really have no idea what the dogs go thru in "boot camp". So many things can happen. But like Scarlett O'Hara, I'll think about that tomorrow. 
We've been busy lately with work....she goes everyday with me and cheers up everyone who stops by my office at the church. I think they come to see her. She met a deaf lady the other day and they bonded right away...it was neat to see (that was at the hardware store). She goes to the pharmacy with me and the everyone says "Hi Michele" and at the bank they bring her dog treats. One of the tellers actually came out from behind the counter and into the ATM area to say hi to her and bring her a treat. Sheesh! 
Last weekend we went to Salt Lake City to see/hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert and while we were gone, Judy and Michael took both Ms M and Mr Levi for us. What a fun time they all had. A few minor catastrophes which we won't go into, but over all everyone had fun. And this week Nadie came by the office with her mom and the girls did their usual crazy playtime stuff. We don't dare take them to church services together though as they are prone to disturb the worship. Nadie has gone off on vacation for Christmas so Ms M will go to church on Sunday, but not Christmas Eve. We count the days and enjoy the moments while we still have Michele with us. It'll be quiet without her but maybe someone will need a puppy sitter!
